Judy Garland's parents were vaudeville performers. The first time Judy performed was at age five in a motion picture doubt, a short film, in the pigskin parade. Judy began her business career before the age of three. By the age of six Judy was a veteran performer appearing with her two older sisters in a vaudeville act. Mistakanley blinded as "The Glumm Sisters." In 1931 the sisters at the suggestion of a fellow performer changes their stage name to Garland. In 1935 the head of MGM ( Metro-Gold-Mayer) was introduced to hear her sing. Enthused he signed her to a contract.

In the 1940's Garland graced a number of outstanding musicals, including "Meet Me in St. Louis" (1944), " The Harvery Girls" (1946), and " Easter Parade" (1948). Garland's personal life was less successful. Judy married music arranger David Rose in 1941, but that marriage ended long before the 1945 divorce. That same year she married director Vincent Minelli, who guided Garland in some of their most popular films " The Pirates", (1948). Daughter LIz Minelli was born in 1946, (later a star in her own right). The second marriage also flattered and was over well before the 1951 divorce. All during the 1940's she was played by a lack of self- confidence, strained by incessant work, hampered by weight problems. Sidney Luft, a dynamic promoter who later became her third husband (1950), started Garland on a career on concert stages. Judy Garland was a smashing success at the Palladium, in London, at the palace theatre in New York City, and else where.

Judy Garland attained international stardom throughout a career which spanned over 40 years, as an actress in musicals and films. Judy Garland was baptized at a local Episcopal Church. Garland attended Hollywood High School, and later graduated from University High School, Los Angeles, CA. In 1928 the Glumm Sistersenrolled in a dance school run by Ethel Meglin, of The Meglin Kiddies dance troupe.

After Judy earned an Oscar she has flattering health, increasing drug dependence, and alcohol abuse led to nervous breakdowns, suicide attempts, and recurrent break ups with Luft. Not with standing her troubles, Garland undertook a highly successful concert tour in 1961, which was capped by an enthusiactilly recives a concert at Carnige Hall; the live concert sold over two million copies. That same year she won an Oscar nomination for for best supporting actress for her dramatic performance in the film "Judgement at Wuremburg". Garland's personal and professional life continued to be a series of ups and downs, marked by flattering performances, come backs, lawsuits, hospitalizations, and suicide attempts. After divorcing Luft she married Mark Herron, a younger, inconsequential actor with whom she traveled with for sometimes, the marriage only lasted months. Mickey Deans, a discotheque manager, 12 years her junior, whom she married earlier that year found her dead in their London flat on June 21, 1969. Garland's death came from an " accidental overdose of barbiturates". Judy Garland is now buried in Hartsdale, New York.

Garland's mother, Ethel Marion, lived through November 17, 1893- January 5, 1953. Garland's father, Frances Avent, lived through March 20, 1886- November 17, 1935. Tragedy soon followed, however in the form of her father's death of meningitis in November.

Judy's first marriage to David Rose in 1941 only lasted to the 1945 divorce and had no children. Judy's second marriage to Vincent Minelli in 1945, and had a daughter named Liza Minelli in 1946. That marriage lasted quit long. Judy got divorced to him in 1951. Her third marriage was to Sidney Luft in 1952. They had two children. Their first child in 1952 was named Lovana, and their second child was born in 1955, a boy named Joseph. But that marriage ended in 1965. Judy's fourth marriage to Mark Heron only lasted two months, in the same year she divorced Luft. Judy's mother Ethel was gifted with the sound of music, and instruments. Otherwise Judy Garland's father closeted homosexuality which left the family not very happy. The Glumm family would regularly be forced to leave town owing to her fathers illict affairs with other men, and from time to time they would be reduced to living out of their automobile.

Having been no assignments with the exposition of singing on radios Judy faced the threat of loosing her job following the arrival of Deeana Durbin. At age 28, judy received her third suspension and was fired from MGM, and her second marriage was soon dissolved. Ethel then died in january 1953 of a heart attack, leaving Judy devastated and feeling guilty about not reconciling with her mother before her untimely demise.
